Did I Grow Up or Just Grow Out of It?
Hey guys, welcome to my ⭐August⭐ blog post.
Today's topic is a bit nostalgic in its own way, so let's get into it. 🥀✨
"Bring back the old me. 🪞"
"The one that was so into jewellery. ✨"
"The one who believed in heavy makeup. 💄"
"The one that defined her style."
I got told by many of my friends that I have become more simple in my dressing, and I did not really clock it until I realised that they had a point. But I feel that it was just because I switched colleges. What I wore back in my old college would not be something that I would wear in my current college.
Wearing so much jewellery that defined me and now suddenly switching to minimalistic stuff — I have changed, I guess, but it's for the better. 🌱
But recently, I have felt the need to dabble into the things that I used to do, and I feel I have not done things that I used to like doing.
I used to like drawing digitally. 🎨 I do not remember the last time I drew something. It's been literally ages since I drew something.
I am also someone who watches a lot of anime, TV series, movies, etc., and I have noticed that now I don't do that anymore. 🎧
My prime, I think, was in COVID times.
I remember watching 20 episodes of anime daily. And now I can barely sit through a few episodes. 📺 I used to binge-watch so many TV shows, and sometimes I think to myself, how did I do all that?
How did I manage to do all that?
Because now I feel obligated but lazy to do it.
So what changed?
What went wrong? 💭
I want to bring back that.
I feel now I am more into the life that I am living, the people that are in it, and I think back in the day I was just consumed by myself. I was just into what I was doing. I did not care about what others were up to.
So I feel I need to just be by myself and start doing the things that I used to because it was fun. 🫧
I had fun.
I guess that's what really matters. 🤍
I feel like growing up, your priorities change over time. We get more busy, and it will just keep getting busier.
But if you feel it, then we should just do something that we used to like doing. And it can be small, simple things: reading a book, watching a comfort show, cooking something. 📖☕️
Like even cooking. 🍳 You know, I used to cook so much. Not the best, always, but I used to love experimenting with my food. I even had made a blog post on my previous website about it, and now I don't cook anymore.
And my aunt had recently asked me, “Why don't you cook anymore?” And I was like, I don't know. I didn't have an answer.
Why did I stop?
Did the habit just fall off? 💭
Because I still like cooking, but I just don't experiment anymore the way that I used to.
I also feel the need to grow my hair for some reason because I wanted to give myself layers after a few months. And back in my time, I used to, you know, give myself layer cuts, and I got a lot of compliments for that. It suited me more, I feel. 💇🏻♀️✨ And I feel like for a really long time, I have been in short hair, and I am fed up of it. So this is another aspect where it brings about the nostalgia. 🥀
So when I remember such factors, it makes me feel like I might have lost myself along the way or changed?
I don't know what to say. I would like to say changed, you know, and give it a positive aspect to it. 🌱
I feel that everyone used to do something like a hobby that now we just don't find the time to do it or to practise it anymore.
And I feel it's because life has become so busy, so unnecessarily busy, that we just can't make time for something that we love doing. 🌙
So today's blog post is a reminder for all of you to do that one hobby that you don't practise anymore. 🫶🏻
To remember the time where you considered yourself in your prime and pick up those habits that you now do not practise.
Obviously, change is always for the better. I am not saying go back to your old self, but if you feel it in the moment, then maybe doing something from your past could be beneficial to you. ✨
I don't know. Does it make sense? 🥀
That's all I have to say for now.
